The Isle of Skye

in Scotland's Hebridean Islands

Welcome to a view of the Isle of Skye.

My name is David Wright and I live on Isle of Skye. I usually develop web pages for other people or to help promote the Island through my business IsleOfSkye.Net (when I'm not writing software for my other business interest - Skyewright). This site however is a little different, sure it is about Skye to a large extent and sure you'll find links to accommodation, places to eat and things to see or do or even buy, but this is a more eclectic personal selection. There are no particular qualifying criteria for inclusion here and no one is paying me for any links I might choose to include (indeed, I have views about the commercial use of org domains).

I've not had much spare time yet to devote to these pages so for the moment I'll start with mentioning a few of my neighbours here in Elgol and along towards Broadford.

Robin & Leslie at Coruisk House offer some of finest (if not the finest) food in Skye; they also run a couple of self catering cottages, Tigh na Keppoch and Tigh Phòil. Mary MacIntosh at Cnoc Bàn offers very homely B&B and Mary & Drew have three self-catering thatched cottages.

Along the road towards the harbour is Scavaig View, a self-catering croft house. Nearby, Pauline & Chris run the Rose Croft bed and breakfast that used to be run by Chris's aunt.

As you head down towards the shore you pass 10 Elgol. 10 Elgol is self-catering let owned by Marieanne & Bob McMillan. Bob also runs Skye Birds a temendous resource for visiting (and local) bird watchers. A little further along is the former home of "Lillian Beckwith".

Over-looking the harbour is the Cuillin View Gallery & Coffee Shop. In the nearby community hall, you'll find Elgol Shop, offering an amazing range of things in a small shop, including locally produced cards and cross stitch designs by Eliza Wright (2 fishes designs).

Down by the shore The Pier House offers more self-catering accommodation. From the jetty you can take boat trips over to Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin Hills on the Misty Isle or the Bella Jane. If you continued along the road past the community hall you would find your self in Glasnakille, where Ruth Shead runs Rowan Cottage, fine B&B and evening meals.

Along the road between Elgol and Broadford, artist Garth Duncan relocated to Skye from the United States. Garth makes beautiful Celitic inspired jewellery. Closer to Broadford is Torrin, where Rupert Copping has a gallery.

Well, this is all I've had time to do, so if you're interested in Skye, please follow one of the above links or visit Ealaghol the site that got me started in all this!
